by the way, did anyone see that recent la times story on fair food? the central profile was of a krispy cream fried chicken sandwich... that is, a jelly crispy cream donut, split open and stuff with a breaded chicken patty and a slice of swiss cheese. then the whole thing is dunked in a deep fryer.
speaking of which, the other day I went for "brunch" at a batton rouge restaurant... I ordered fried chicken and waffles... it was better than I expected.
The batter fried (ham?) sandwich is sometimes called a Montecristo - God know why, I doubt the Count had anything to do with it... Maybe it's a mispelling of Mount-Crisco.

actually, sweet & salty is notoriously delicious. were it not for the chocolate chips, i'd say it's brilliant.
